Car history: |
1) 1969 Corvette 427 Coupe, Total Original, Matching Number, California Car. This 1969 Corvette was acquired last year from the second California owner who had the car for over 40 years. It was only his advanced age that caused the car to come available for sale. We purchased this car thru a good California based contact and friend who found it and told us the following information that stirred our interest. It was a 1969 427-390 HP, 4 Speed Coupe in a total unrestored condition with absolutely no modifications from new and no damage. The original paint was very faded and actually baked off and flaking in a number of areas revealing a superb undamaged body. The interior was intact and the carpet was very worn. All weatherstripping was sun baked and rock hard.. Along with the positively original, factory installed motor, the entire drivetrain was all correct and original to the car. The frame and chassis components were truly outstanding like only a Southwest dry car will have, absolutely no rust, not even surface rusting. The car was totally operable as the owner always kept the car serviced and roadworthy even as the cosmetic condition was failing and his driving and his driving the car became very seldom. Our original intention in buying the car was to resell it just as it was but after one short drive the plan changed this 1969 427 Corvette ran and drove so good we decided to go ahead and do the cosmetic restoration as needed to return this car to its exact 1969 AS-NEW appearance. Exterior paint was stripped, body prepared and a show quality overall refinish to correct original color code 974 Monza Red was completed, exterior chrome was replaced to show quality. New windshield and all new weather restripping was completed. 4 new correct replacement F70-15 Red-Stripe tires were installed on the original dated Rally Wheels. The rare turbine P02 wheel covers were restored. Interior was restored as needed with new Al Knoch seat covers, dash pad, door panels and carpet. The rest if the interior was properly cleaned and detailed to appear as new. This original Monza Red coupe is nicely optioned with Black interior, power steering, brakes, windows, tilt-telescopic wheel, AM-FM radio, headrest seats, 3:36 positraction, red stripe tires, side louver trim, P02 Deluxe wheel covers and tinted glass. The 390 HP-427 Turbo-Jet motor is backed up with the original M-20 4-speed Transmission you will note that our pictures depict the original trim tag verifying the color and trim and another clear picture shows the positively factory original engine stamp pad with cars vin in place. This vin is also on the transmission. Mechanicals were serviced including new stainless steel insert brake calipers complete new Allens exhaust system, carb rebuild, engine re-gasketing, major tune-up, all fluids changed and much more to ensure excellent driveability and reliability. This car now looks, runs and drives as you would expect and likely very close to the experience it gave when new in 1969. We have obtained the NCRS shopping report documenting its original sale by Bartins Chevrolet in Yorba Linda, CA. It stayed in that area its entire life until our purchase. This is a truly rare find in this condition and now a car that can be driven and enjoyed while owning a very sound investment grade Corvette. Odometer reads 31,140 but true mileage is unknown. $40,000 (RnM) on May 23, 2018. |
